Conservation Foundation Announces 2020 Conservation Honorees
Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast announced its 2020 Conservation Partner of the Year & Volunteer of the Year at the Annual Conservation Reception held virtually this year.
Beautiful Ponds, 2020 Volunteer of the Year, generously brought their time & expertise in the restoration & exotic plant removal at Upper Myakka Preserve, Tatum Sawgrass Scrub Preserve & Pine Island Preserve. Thanks to their efforts, native species are returning & blossoming into beautiful marsh lands & meadows that were obscured for decades by dense exotic grasses.
Manatee Fish & Game Association, 2020 Partner of the Year helped to permanently protect Johnson Preserve at Braden River & Felts Audubon Preserve in Palmetto through their generous support. They are collaborating on the Manatee County ballot initiative “Vote for Water & Land” which, if Manatee County voters pass, will provide funding to protect drinking water, protect wildlife habitat & create parks.
“Both honorees are outstanding partners in our efforts to conserve land & water. We are grateful for them & look forward to future collaborations benefitting both nature & people.” noted Christine Johnson, president of Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast.
